Our selection of connecting links

Our selection of cromox® connecting links for chains and other components is characterized by the exceptionally high material quality of stainless steel, also known as inox steel (from the French "inoxydable", meaning "non-corrosive" or "rust-free" or stainless steel, NiRoSta or NiRo for short), as well as precise workmanship. They are developed in-house at Ketten Wälder GmbH and offer the best corrosion resistance. In our in-house, Lloyd's Register-certified test laboratory, each individual stainless steel connecting link is subjected to standardized tests to check and ensure its load-bearing capacity. Our selection includes specially designed connecting links that are valued for their load capacity and adaptability to various chain slings and lifting equipment.

We are a member of the Associated Wire Rope Fabricators AWRF. With more than 400 companies in 25 countries around the world, AWRF is a leading organization for sling fabricators and special rigging components manufacturers.

All our products are tested in the in-house Lloyd's Register certified testing laboratory of Ketten Wälder GmbH. According to international standards, with up to 160 tons load capacity.

Our cromox® products are produced in Germany and are international leaders in the field of stainless steel products. We ensure consistently high quality and technical solutions to the highest standards.

FAQs

What are connecting links?

In mechanics and mechanical engineering, connecting links are parts that are used to connect two or more elements together. Examples of this could be chain links, shackles, hooks or other components. Connecting links, essential for safe lifting, are central items in the design of chain suspensions and other lifting mechanisms.

Where are stainless steel connecting links used?

Stainless steel connecting links are used in many different applications, especially where corrosion resistance, hygiene and aesthetics are important. The versatility and load-bearing capacity of stainless steel fasteners makes them a preferred item in numerous industrial applications. Some areas of use are:

  1. Marine and shipping: Due to corrosion resistance to salt water, stainless steel connecting links are highly suitable for anchor chains, rigging and fasteners on ships and boats.
  2. Food and beverage industry: In food processing and manufacturing, stainless steel links are used because of their ease of cleaning and resistance to cleaning chemicals to prevent contamination.
  3. Architecture and construction: Stainless steel is used for decorative and structural purposes, such as in railings, façade fixings, suspension systems and as load-bearing elements in glass façades and structures.
  4. Medical devices: Connecting links made of stainless steel are used in medical technology due to their sterilizability and corrosion resistance.
  5. Other industrial applications: In manufacturing and automation (including in machinery), stainless steel connecting links are used to connect parts and transmit mechanical movements.
  6. Water treatment and distribution: In wastewater treatment plants and water treatment facilities, stainless steel connecting links are used because of their resistance to corrosive chemicals and water.
  7. Petrochemical industry: Stainless steel is used in areas where resistance to aggressive substances is required.
  8. Transportation: In the air, rail and automotive industries, stainless steel connecting links are used for a variety of purposes, including fastening components.

This list can be extended as stainless steel fasteners can be used in many other areas, depending on the need for durability, corrosion resistance and hygiene.

What is the difference between a fastener with a bracket and a fastener with a half shell? Where are they used?

The main difference between a connecting link with bracket and a connecting link with half shell lies in their design and intended use. They are used in different industrial applications depending on the specific requirements for safety, flexibility and load capacity Both connecting links allow for a flexible connection that is easy to handle and can be attached or removed quickly. A connecting link with bracket provides additional stability and load-bearing capacity for lifting and connecting loads due to the continuous, closed connection.

cromox® connecting links – durable and resilient

When it comes to lifting heavy loads, cromox® connecting links made of stainless steel are indispensable. Their high load-bearing capacity and durability make them an optimal choice for safely lifting and moving loads. The robust properties of our connecting links, including their load-bearing capacity and durability, make them a cornerstone for safe lifting and transporting of loads.
